Registered Nurse, Ayurvedic Health Practitioner, Yoga Teacher, Holistic Health Provider, Wellness Consultant, and Coach are all roles I have held and terms that can be used to describe the types of services I can offer. No matter what your health interest or need I will use my 25+ years of nursing experience and training to help you.

"I am passionate about using my Nursing, Ayurveda and Yoga training to help you create realistic, simple to follow, customized self-care practices that support healthy balanced living and assist you in exploring strategies to address potential obstacles that may stand in your way of doing so"
My approach
Healthy Inputs is a comprehensive holistic nursing practice that incorporates complementary health systems such as Ayurveda along with Yoga to educate and counsel individuals on holistic health solutions that support healthy circadian living. Holistic health solutions focus on "whole body wellness" and are designed to help you "sync" with your natural built in circadian rhythm. With this approach health is viewed as more than absence of disease but instead a measure of balance you create between your body, mind and spirit.

My philosophy
Each and every moment your body and mind are providing you with "status updates" on your health. The body sends messages as "physical symptoms" and the mind sends messages as "thoughts" and "feelings". Together these messages provide clues as to what your body/mind may need. My goal is to help you develop a natural process for how to "tune-in" and interpret these messages and respond in a way that acknowledges and supports your unique health needs. Learning how to connect and respond to these messages provides you not only with opportunity to respond immediately to a need but also provides a way for you to proactively monitor for any brewing imbalances; placing you directly in the "drivers seat" as the expert and ultimate controller of your health.
My approach & philosophy are influenced by the following principles:
Health is more than absence of disease
Health is the measure of balance you create that supports and promotes your physical, mental and spiritual health
Body & mind are closely connected
The body and mind are intricately related, a disturbance in one will create an impact in the other
Live in "sync" with natural rhythms
Living in balance with natural circadian rhythms within your body as well as natural rhythms within your environment is essential for achieving optimal health & well-being
Personalized approach is required
We are each unique beings with unique health needs, and as such require unique approaches to managing individual health
You are your best "healer"
You are your own best experts when it comes to managing your health.
Diet, Sleep & Exercise are your best tools
Your daily habits and lifestyle choices are your secret weapons for achieving optimal health & well-being.
My promise to you
Whether it is sharing of knowledge, teaching a new skill or demonstrating how a health behavior/practice could be creatively worked into your day, you will leave our sessions with tangible resources you can use immediately for selecting diet, sleep and exercise practices that are balancing for you.

About Me
Registered Nurse . Ayurvedic Practitioner/Counselor . Yoga Teacher
Since childhood I have been fascinated with science, specifically with human physiology (“how the body works”), so it was natural that I gravitated towards the field of nursing as my chosen profession. Through my experience in hospital based nursing, and an outpatient care setting, I realized my passion was patient education and health promotion. While health education and prevention teachings have always been a standard within my practice, I felt my teachings often consisted of providing patients with a scripted list of do’s and don’ts based on their presenting health condition. While this information is needed and important to share, I wanted the primary focus of my practice to support the “person” experiencing the health condition rather than the other way around.
With this mindset, I enrolled and completed a Master's of Science in Nursing degree. The leadership skills and knowledge gained, provided me with the confidence needed to successfully transition into a leadership role as the Director of the Wellness Center at a private university in the Midwest. This position allowed me to design and implement clinical as well as informative, interactive and effective preventative health services and programs for the college age population. The college student population taught me that individual health behaviors and choices were primarily being selected and driven by external sources (social media feeds, friends experience, impact on physical appearance). As a result, health habits were forming with little regard to their own unique health needs.
Ironically “health starts from within” was a prominent theme that was emerging in my own life and was the inspiration behind my decision to pursue yoga teacher certification and later Ayurvedic Wellness Counselor and Ayurvedic Practitioner training. Yoga, use of asana (postures), breathwork and meditation showed me how the body can be used as a tool to help balance the mind. Ayurveda, translated as the "science of life", showed me how proper diet, lifestyle regimens and living in sync with our unique internal rhythms and with the rhythms of nature could promote optimal body/mind health and balance.
Through my time in college health, I was able to see how my Nursing, Ayurveda and Yoga training can be pulled together and integrated into one comprehensive holistic, patient-focused practice. While each discipline is a complete stand-alone practice, the combination of all three provides a unique perspective that is not as prevalent in our society. My nursing training provides a deep understanding for care and management of an individual from a scientific, physiologic western medicine point of view, while the Ayurveda and Yoga training provides a more eastern medicine perspective, rich in use of natural holistic ways for health prevention and maintenance. Healthy Inputs is my opportunity, as a nursing professional, to merge and integrate the holistic teachings of Ayurveda/Yoga/Nursing into one practice to respond and combat the growing incidence of preventable chronic disease in the US and for guiding people on steps they can take towards leading balanced, healthy, and happy lives.
